Dr. Ibrahim Shehata, Hesham Kamel, and Hend Mansour recently contributed a Practice Note for Thomson Reuters’ Practical Law on Data Privacy & Cybersecurity, titled GDPR Compliance for Egyptian Businesses. This note provides a comprehensive analysis of the key distinctions between Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 (PDPL) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), discussing the GDPR’s applicability to Egyptian organizations and necessary compliance measures.
Following the publication of this Practice Note, Thomson Reuters developed a derivative comparison chart, Comparing the GDPR and Egypt’s PDPL: Overview, which is based on the information provided in the authors’ Practice Note. As the chart has already been published, the authors have been credited by Thomson Reuters for their contribution to this at-a-glance reference tool. Both the Practice Note and the Comparison Chart are in tandem with the latest Executive Regulations.
